Donald R. Bumiller joined the firm of MacLean Holloway Doherty & Sheehan, P.C. in June, 2015 with 30 years of continuous experience. Mr. Bumiller has developed a general trial law practice, representing individual and business clients, with an emphasis on civil litigation. He has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in many areas, including business disputes, construction claims, personal injury, products liability, employment law and claims involving the administration of trusts. He also continues to represent clients facing criminal charges. His experience includes numerous jury and bench trials in the Superior, District and Probate Courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts.
Mr. Bumiller is an honors graduate of Boston College High School (1973), where he was a National Honor Society member as well as a three-sport varsity letter winner and Swim Team captain. At Brandeis University (1977) he was awarded the Macroeconomics Prize and earned varsity letters in swimming and lacrosse. At Suffolk University Law School (cum laude, 1984), he was the American Jurisprudence award-winning student in Civil Procedure.
Mr. Bumiller was admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 1985, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, also in 1985, and the United States Supreme Court in 1997.
Mr. Bumiller is a Past President of the Essex County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association House of Delegates. Mr. Bumiller currently serves as the Essex Bar’s Superior Court Judicial Liaison Officer and as a Superior Court civil case conciliator. He has lectured at continuing legal education seminars in the areas of insurance coverage, injunctive relief and pre-trial motion practice. He is a Life Member of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation.
