Jeffrey C. Doherty

Mr. Doherty concentrates in general corporate and securities law including private placements of securities, mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing, as well as secured and unsecured debt financing.  Mr. Doherty represents publicly and privately held corporations and business entities in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, e-commerce, software licensing, and commercial lending.  Mr. Doherty received his undergraduate degree from Brown University in 1985, his MBA from Babson College in 1990, and his law degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1996.  Mr. Doherty is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  He is a member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association.

Representative transactions in which Mr. Doherty has served as counsel include:

  • $1.15 billion sale of Simplex Time Recorder Co., Inc. to Tyco
  • Acquisition of Lumina Power by HEICO Corporation
  • Private placements of preferred stock for corporations in a variety of industries
  • Leveraged recapitalization of a custom chemical manufacturer
  • $75 million unsecured revolving credit facility provided by the agent bank and syndicate lenders for an international construction company
  • $12.5 million acquisition line of credit and the related sale of $5.75 million senior subordinated notes for a national lubricant distributor
  • Intellectual property licensing transactions
  • C&I lending transactions in amounts ranging from $1,000,000 to $20,000,000
  • Commercial real estate and construction lending transactions
