Daniel Doherty is a shareholder in MacLean Holloway Doherty & Sheehan, P.C.. He concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate law, tax law, elder law, estate planning and administration. Prior to joining MacLean Holloway Doherty & Sheehan, P.C., Mr. Doherty was a partner in a Boston law firm where he headed the tax department. He previously had been a member of a “Big Eight” accounting firm tax department (International Mergers and Acquisitions Group).

He is a co-author of “Limited Liability Companies: The Entity of Choice in Massachusetts,” National Business Institute, Inc. (1996, 1997, 1998) as well as an instructor for the Foundation for Continuing Education, presenting programs such as “IRS Practice and Procedure” (1996-1999), “Corporate Tax Strategies” (1996), “Asset Protection Strategies” (1996-2009), “Choice of Entity” (1999-2009) and “Purchase and Sale of Businesses” (2003-2009). He is a frequent lecturer in the areas of tax and estate planning.

William Sheehan is a shareholder in the firm of MacLean Holloway Doherty & Sheehan, P.C.  Mr. Sheehan maintains a general practice of law representing both individual and business clients, with an emphasis on civil litigation. He has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of matters including employment law, school law, contracts, real estate, construction law, zoning and land use, business disputes, discrimination claims, personal injury, product liability, and claims involving will contests and the administration of trusts and estates. His trial experience includes trials in the Superior Court, Land Court, Probate and Family Court and District Court Departments of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as well as the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Mr. Sheehan has successfully argued appeals in the Massachusetts Appeals Court, Supreme Judicial Court and United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Mr. Sheehan practiced with the firm of Pearl, McNiff, Crean, Cook, Sheehan & Smerczynski from 1977 to 2003 where he was a partner from 1982 to 2003. Mr. Sheehan left the firm to serve as in-house corporate counsel to SPS New England, Inc of Salisbury, Massachusetts for one year in 2004. Mr. Sheehan continues to count SPS New England, Inc. among his many corporate and individual clients.

Mr. Sheehan is a Past President of the Peabody Bar Association and a member of the Massachusetts, Essex County and Peabody Bar Associations. He is a Corporator of North Shore Bank and is a lector and past vice-chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council of St. Rose of Lima Church in Topsfield, MA.

Education

Mr. Sheehan is a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School, Danvers, MA (1970) where he was named winner of the student athlete award and is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame. Mr. Sheehan attended Yale University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, where he was also a three-year varsity letter winner in cross-country and track and a school record holder. Mr. Sheehan attended Boston University Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree. He was also the American Jurisprudence Award winner in criminal law. Mr. Sheehan was admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 1977, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts in 1978, the First Circuit Court of Appeals in 1992, and the United States Supreme Court in 1999.

Robert’s practice focuses on the resolution of complex litigation matters for business and individual clients, in a wide range of substantive areas. He has successfully litigated shareholder derivative actions, securities fraud, lender liability, partnership and close-corporation dissolution matters, trade regulation and consumer protection matters, land use, construction, commercial and banking transaction matters, products liability, employment and discrimination claims, as well as creditor and debtor disputes in the Bankruptcy Court and elsewhere. His representation has included both plaintiffs and defendants in these and many other civil litigation matters. Mr. Holloway’s trial and appellate experience has included federal and state courts in Massachusetts, as well as courts in other jurisdictions.

Associations/Community

Mr. Holloway served for many years as a member of the Board of Editors of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly; Director and past President of the Essex County Bar Association; past President of the Massachusetts Bar Association; and as a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Ethics Committee, Civil Litigation Council, Complex Commercial Litigation Council, and the Joint Bar Committee on Judicial Nominations. He was a member of the Topsfield Board of Health and also served three terms as an elected member of the Masconomet Regional School Committee (1990- 1999). For many years he served as a director of the Topsfield Athletic Association and also served as that organization’s president. Prior thereto, he served as an appointed member of the Danvers Recreation Committee, and as chairman of that Committee. He was a founding member of Hospice of the North Shore and president of that organization and served as a corporator of Beverly Hospital. Mr. Holloway received in 1993 the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Community Service Award.

Mr. Holloway also regularly judges moot court arguments at Boston University School of Law and Harvard Law School and acts as a trial advisor in the Harvard Trial Workshop program. He is a regular panelist on continuing legal education programs, including the recurring MCLE program, “How To Try A Civil Case In Superior Court.”

For more than 30 years Mr. Holloway also has served as a “neutral” -by court appointment and by selection of parties -as a mediator, arbitrator and master, in a wide variety of cases.

Mr. Holloway graduated from Amherst College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He attended Boston University School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree. Mr. Holloway was admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 1973, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts in 1974, the First Circuit Court of Appeals in 1979, the U.S. Supreme Court in 1979, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in 1992.

  • Intellectual property licensing transactions
  • C&I lending transactions in amounts ranging from $1,000,000 to $20,000,000

Thomas J. Flannagan’s practice is concentrated in the area of civil litigation. He has successfully represented both business and individual clients in a wide array of matters including disputes concerning minority shareholder rights, complex contractual disputes, employment discrimination claims, claims arising from breaches of non-competition agreements, trust disputes, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, all manner of personal injury claims, land use and other real property disputes, construction disputes, and claims concerning construction bonds.

Mr. Flannagan has trial experience in the state and federal courts in Massachusetts. Mr. Flannagan has argued appeals before the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the United States District Court, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining MacLean Holloway Doherty & Sheehan, P.C., Mr. Flannagan practiced with Patrick J. Riley, a former Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court, representing plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury, premises liability, products liability, medical malpractice, and complex contractual disputes.

Mr. Flannagan is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. He is currently a member of the MBA’s Membership Committee and was a member for several years of the MBA’s Labor and Employment Section Council.  He is also a long time member of the Essex County Bar Association.

Community

Mr. Flannagan resides in Danvers with his wife and twins. He is active in his community and has served on several subcommittees for the Danvers School Committee on subjects ranging from elementary school facilities to early release days to the building of the proposed new Ivan Smith Elementary School. He is active in and is currently the President-Elect of the Danvers Kiwanis Club.  He has been an assistant coach with the Danvers American Little League and an Assistant Den Leader with Cub Scout Pack 155 in Danvers. Mr. Flannagan is a regular judge in Suffolk University Law School’s various moot court programs. He also volunteers his time as a conciliator at Lynn District Court.

Michael Tucker is a trial and appellate attorney of 27 years experience in the state and federal courts. His career has been spent exclusively in the private representation of clients, both entities and individuals, in both civil and criminal courts. Litigating matters including contract and real estate disputes, corporate and partnership disputes, criminal complaints and corporate collection actions has made up a substantial portion of his caseload. While it is not always necessary to press a matter to trial, a reputation as an attorney who is experienced and willing to go to trial has been helpful to the clients he represents.

Mr. Tucker is admitted in Massachusetts and New Hampshire as well as the federal courts in both states. He has also practiced at the appellate level in both the state and federal venues.

Community:

Mr. Tucker volunteers as coach of the Mock Trial Team at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts and is a member of the Newburyport Bar Association.
